Once the enrolment information is received we then check:  

  • The application is complete.
  • The student's suitability for your school.
  • The student's proposed living situation.
  • Insurance, visa, and passport.

We then send an invoice to the students family.

Once the payment is received when then send a receipt and an Offer of Place is sent to the student.

After arrival in New Zealand

We arrange class placement and check starting date.

Copy documents

These include: 

  • passport
  • visa
  • insurance

Put cultural support in place if needed.

Involve the student in an orientation programme 

Arrange school uniform and stationery 

Immigration Requirements

Prospective International Students must hold the appropriate student visa or permit prior to enrolment.

Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS), and can be viewed on their website.

Medical & Travel Insurance

Eligibility for Health Services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand.   If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment.  Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health and can be viewed on their website:

Accident Insurance

The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs.  Further information can be viewed on the ACC website:

Medical and Travel Insurance

International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.

Students must provide evidence of appropriate and current medical and travel insurance. This insurance must cover the full length of time spent in New Zealand. An overseas Insurance Policy will only be accepted if it is accompanied with an English translation. The school will keep a record of the Insurance Policy number and the type of cover provided.

Pasadena Intermediate School is an approved signatory to, has agreed to observe and to be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education.

Assessment

All tuition is provided in English.

Greetings and some phrases, in the languages of the various nationalities represented in the student population, are used in class and in school activities.

International Students are required to have a level of oral and written English proficiency that will allow them to participated in the school programmes.

International Students’ oral and written English language proficiency is assessed by a combination of tests and an interview. 

Verified translations in English, of a student’s most recent school reports are helpful.

English as a Second Language tuition is provided by our Learning Support Programme.
