Home and School

Partnership

At Pasadena Intermediate School, programmes are designed to develop each student to the best of their natural abilities. This can be best done when there is a close co-operation between the home and the school. In different situations each has a knowledge of the child that is helpful to the other.

Communication between the school, the international student, the international student’s homestay, the international student’ parents and any agencies involved is essential for an international student placement to be successful.

The school has developed and documented an International Students Communication Plan to facilitate quality communication between all involved.

Students’ Communication With Parents

Students will be encouraged to have regular telephone, electronic and written communication with their parents. As appropriate this will be undertaken from the homestay and / or from school. Parents are asked to provide their children with appropriate International Calling Cards.

Parents are encouraged to have regular telephone, electronic and written communication with their parents.

Accidents and Emergencies

The school is responsible for all emergency procedures during school hours, and outside school hours while the student is in a homestay.

In the event of an accident or emergency appropriate action will be taken and you will be contacted as soon as possible by the school’s International Students’ Pastoral Care Supervisor, your student’s agent, or your insurance company, on the emergency contact number provided on International Students’ Application for Enrolment form.

If you child has an accident while you are outside of New Zealand, the school or the homestay parents may need to consent to urgent medical procedures on your behalf, including blood transfusions if necessary.
