Induction

For many students, their graduation from primary to intermediate school is the first change of school they experience.

For most there is some apprehension and uncertainty. For a small number, it has the potential to be a traumatic experience.

At Pasadena we work extremely hard to make the transition smooth and welcoming. We work in very close co-operation with primary schools, we keep new enrolments and their families well informed about activities and procedures and ourInduction Programme  supports a gradual introduction and a natural, non threatening transition.

The school will also provide for International Students and their parents, additional orientation - course information, school procedures, the ‘kiwi way’ - as required.

The classroom teacher will be responsible for ensuring the International Student has a ’friends group’ of two or more other students who will help with daily routines, school layout, expectations, The Pasadena Code, timetables, and activities during the breaks.

The International Student Co-ordinator will monitor new International Students, especially during the first few weeks. The Co-ordinator will also be available for support of the International Students, the International Students’ classroom teacher and parents/caregiver. Translators will be made available where necessary.
